Fully Known. Fully Loved

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

You are needed by God. He wants to know you, answer your questions, and do whatever He can do to help you follow Jesus better. So do we! You can be fully known (all the good and the bad!) and fully loved (no matter what).

So right now I'm going to preach amessage from the word of God and every week we get together we're going to dothis because we believe the Bible is the most relevant and most helpful bookthat there is, and so we're going to look at it. We're going to read itwe're going to take it in and we're going to do our best and I'm going totry my best to inspire you to apply it to your life so that you can live alife that honors gone, and that is really a true, a abundant life that Godwants to give all of us, and so I'm going to preach a message now aboutthe power of relationship, specifically the power of arelationship with God and also with other people, but really with God. Andso, if you have your Bible, I encourage you to turn with me there to JohnChapter Four we're going to be looking through this story and if you don'thave a Bible, that's all right. We've got a bunch of free bibles that we loveto give you a Bible on your way out in the lobby. Just pick one up and takeone home. We love to do that for you and if you don't have one right now andthat's fine, though the words will be on the screen behind me as well, and so this story in John Chapter Fouris all about dizus meeting and developing arelationship with a woman, smeritan woman and we'll talk about whythat's important in a just a few seconds, she's the woman at the welland God's Jesus's interaction with this woman gives us a great indication ofhow God wants to have a relationship with you and with me, like God, wantsto get to know you, God wants to hear your story. He wantto answer your questions and he wants to help. You take steps to follow Jesus, and God wants that, for you and as a...

...church. We want to help you experiencethat like want to help you get to know God, and we want to get to know you,and we want to hear your story. We want to answer your questions and we want todo that in a group that meets after the service called our first step group, and so next week. I've mentioned it a bunch of times, but next week after theservice in the lobby there's a black curtain there, it's called first stepwe're going to have a group there where that is the goal. That is. The purposeof this group is to do exactly that. So if you have your Bible John Chapter, four, I'm going to read now O couple verses. These won't be on the screen, but then, as we go through it afterwards, they will be so here's whatJohn The writer of this Gospel had to say. He said Jesus left, Jugea andreturned to Galilee and he had to go through Samarion the way. Eventually hecame to the Samaritan village of Syd car near the field that Jacob gave hisson Joseph Jacob's. Well was there and Jesus tired from the long walk, satwearily beside the well about noontime to just imagine, you're there you're inSemaria you're sitting at the well and here comes Jesus and he sits down nextto you and soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water and Jesus said to her. Please give me a drink. He was alone at the time because his disciples had goneinto the village to buy some food. The woman was surprised for juws refused tohave anything to do with Samaritans. He said to Jesus you're, a Jew and I'm aSamaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink and Jesus replied? If youonly knew the gift God has for you and who you're speaking to you would ask me,and I would give you living water, but sir, you don't have a rope or a bucket. She said, and this is well, is very...

...deep: Where are you going to get thisliving watern beside? Don't you think you're greater? Do you think thatyou're greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this? Well? How can youoffer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed and Jesusreplied? Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again, butthose who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes afresh bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life. Please, sir,the woman said give me this water, then I'll never be thirsty again, and Iwon't have to come here to get water go and get your husband Jesus told her.I don't have a husband, the woman replied, Jesus said you're right, youdon't have a husband, for you have had five husbands and you aren't evenmarried to the man you're living with now you spur certainly spoke. The truth.Thir the woman said you must be a Prophet Bot. Tell me: Why is it thatJews intist, that Jerusalem is the only place of worship where we semaritansclaim it is here at Mount guerizene where our ancestors worship, Jesus, replied? Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longermatter where you worship, the father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You SOMmeritons know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews, know allabout him for salvation comes through the Jews, but the time is coming indeedit's here now when true worshippers will worship the father in spirit andin truth the father is looking for those who will worship him. That way,for God is spirit, though those who worship him must worship and spirit, and in truth the women said. I know the messiaas coming the one who is calledChrist and when he comes, he will explain everything to us and Jesus toldher. I am the Messiah and God we just thankyou for the opportunity to read your word or may we now, as we dig into it.May you speak to US Jesus Nake man thing that John tells us...

...in these verses is that Jesus needed togo through Samaria. I'm gonna talk about this idea, fullyknown and fully love, but Jesus needed there. We go needed. He had togo through Samaria on his way from Judia to Galilee, and he had to do thisfor many reasons. Right you had to meet this woman. This was abig reason why Jesus had had to go from Judea the Galilee and in the middle hehad to go through Sumaria. This was a big deal and at the woman was surprisedthat Jesus was there now. Why was she surprised? Because Jesus was Jewish andJewish people and Semaritan people did not talk to each other, and if Jesuswas God, as we believe that he is a hundred percent God, a hundred percentman and God's chosen people were Jewish people, then, as God became a man, wouldn't you think that God would come to visit with people that actuallytried to be worshipping? God Woun't, you think Jesus God would come to visitpeople that actually cared about following the law. Following the ruleswonce, you think that Jesus would come to the person that was at the right place in the temple thatactually knew about God. I would think so, but that's not what Jesus did he'shad to go through Samaria to meet with this woman. This was also very surprising becauseJews on the regular average day they wouldn't Y, they might make the tripfrom Judea to Galilee, but they would never go through or very rarely gothrough the area of Sameria. They would walk around that area, so it wasn'tlike they just walked on the same. You...

...know on the same sidewalk and justbrust each other off and you know ignored each other. They ignored eachother so much they went out of their way to go around the area and Jesussaid I'm going right through. I have to talk to this woman. I have to go there now. Why would the Jews make thatdecision to add so many hours so many a day? You know to their trip. Why wouldthey do that? Oh because the Samaritans were Jewish in lineage and traditionand as they came back from captivity, they intermarried with othernations and as they did that, then they accepted or adopted some of their other religious practices, and so theJews looked at the Samaritans and said you're not doing this right, you're,not you're, not following God. This isn't the right thing to do in in manyways. They were right in saying that, but because of these reasons andhundreds of years of cultural divide of just being a different people, theywould walk literally around this giant area. Jesus said I have to go through theMaria and I believe that's why you are here right now. Is Jesus had to haveyou here right now? That's why you're found this link and are watching online. You had to be here. Jesus has to have you Jesus needs. You God needs you. You feel that feel. Like God needs you now, of course, God doesn't need you inthe sense that you add any value to his existence. Like he's all powerful, hesself exist and he's doing just fine...

...without our little contribution to theworld, but God so strongly desires, a relationship with you. I think it's safe to say that he needsyou. You are needed by God. They strike up a conversation and they start talking and they starttalking about water and Jesus is like. I got you better. I got living waterand you never have to drink again. You'll never be thirsty. You don't everhave to come to this well again, and so this woman is she's interestedshe's intrigued and then Jesus drops the bom on her and the conversation, and he tells her go and get your husband Bu. Not only was this woman needed byGod, when God wanted to know this woman, GodJesus wanted to know her, he wanted to know her family know. Her situationknow what she came from know what she was involved in got Jesus God wanted toget to know her, and he wants to get to know you to notonly are you needed by God, but God wants to know you and said that she didn't have a husband and to which you would think hey. IfJesus was God, he would already know that right. He knows everything sure his replys sure go to you have had, but your husband Youas told her. Idon't have a husband, the woman, replied and Jeus said you're right, youdon't have a husband, for you have had five husbands and you aren't evenmarried to the man you're living with.

Now you certainly sproke the truth. If you're like me, the woint right here it might make, youwonder, might make you question. Does God really care about me? Does Godreally need me, because what, if you really knew my story, what if youreally knew me like what for me, what I? Why does Goycare about this guy born in Canada, grew up in little old Delaware went tothis little small college in the middle of Nowhere Levino Vellat College. DoesGod really need me Lwho? Am I to God and plus, like the Kno, that I dated this girl in highschool, who was a different religion hat? She could have taken me in atotally different direction. Does God know that this Gud know what I havedone in my life, where I've been in my life? Does God know that if he does then the way that he actually needs me orcan have a relationship with me right? Maybe you've thought similar things. You are wondering similar things like does. God know thatsecret part of my life that nobody else does? Maybe it's not so secret. Maybeeveryone just labels. You looks at you and said: Oh Yeah Yeah, I'm that guythat'm that person, that does that thing and you're wondering if Godreally does know that, can he really have a relationship withme? Can I really have a relationship with him, O guess what does know Oly and completely...

...loves you Bat about you and fholy and completely loves you and if God responds that way to people that we should do our best to alsorespond that way to people. Don't you think anybody? Yes at, I connect thus church. We want tovalue developing authentic relationships and the word authentic isa very intentional word, because authentic means, honest authentic means. I confess, when Imessed up authentic means. When somebody asked me hey how youdoing today, you don't just say good and move on with your life. ENTICK is real. It's honest. We take time to hear eachother of us. I believe, has a deep desire tobe known. I want to feel known like when you comesomewhere new, like this in a new place with New People. What's the first thing that goes uplike I wonder if they're going to like me, I wonder if they're going to acceptme, I wonder if they really knew who I was, if I'd still be allowed to be here, ight they're, just gonna. Kick me out right. That's the fears that happendand we fight this desire to be known. We fight it with God. We fight it withother people. We should stop fighting that fightbecause we need connection we desire connection and the only way to get areal connection with somebody. A real...

...connection with God is to allowyourself to be known like who you truly really are aevrything is. Is that oftentimes, aspeople know US- and this is what happened to the smarite woman- Theyhear our story and we've experienced that you've experienced it beforepeople say I'm done with you. We've had that happen. You've had thathappen to you, but the very thing that drew people made people may from that Samaritan. Woman is theexact same thing that drew Jesus in and, if it drew Jesus in, I think it's a draw us in do no one another serts, you in your relationship withGod that Jesus loves, you Holly, completely loves you, and hefully completely knows you the Apostle Paul one of the writers in the NewTestament that we have in our bibles. In the letter he wrote to a church inRome he said. While we were yet sinners, while we were yet guilty why we wereyet ashamed why we were yet making wrong decisions or bad decisions. Whywe yet had nothing to do with God Paul Rights Christ died for us. Like Jesus died for you, he gave theultimate act of love for you, even though he knew everything about us.Everything that we would do everything that we would say everything that wewould think and Jesus died. He paid the ultimate price he he showed theultimate act of love for you. While we were yet ar from God,...

...woman buff story, SHEU had five husbands, five, crushing heart breaks, fivefailures: Hey that's how you feel this morning, and God fully knows that, and he fully and completely loves you and know that we as a church I'll, beit imperfectly. We want to get to know you and we want to as best as we canholy and completely love you nmatter. What your story is for this conversation turn in FirstNineteen, the woman realizes this man knew information, thisinformation about the husband's new information that he shouldn't haveknown, and so she concludes that he was a prophet cut, this extra knowledge fromsomewhere, and so she asked a good religious question ye this. He says sotell me: Why is it that you Jews, insist thatJerusalem is the only place of worship? Well, we ase to Maritan's claim and ishere at Mout Gerizem, where our ancestors worship so hold on a you'vefollowing along you're falling asleep in those nice chairs ght. How did we get from water to Tho Place, Tho, worship, water, husbands, place of worship that? What is the logical conclusion between those things? I don't know if there is one bink that in our life and in ourexperience we jump to those types of...

...conversations faster than you mightthink bout yourself when people are startingto get to know you and know your story. Our first inclination is okay. Let's,let's talk about something else. Let's talk about this thing over here likewhat about this? What about what about this God question? You know we're atchurch and it's like. Oh, we Kan Getin, to know you and it's like okay wellhold on like who really wrote the Bible e. What is this Jesus guy? What did youdo twohsand years ago? Why does that matter to me and it's like hold on? Ithought we were talking about. You pick the brush off to somethingcompletely in left field, and we forget about what we were here for in thefirst place. But let me just say that's supernatural, like that's just normal, and we want to provide a safe place for you to ask those type of questions, because when you ask those type of questions with somebody, a person responds well, which I hopethey would your building trust with that person, so that you can go alittle deeper into knowing who you are like. Sometimes we need that surfacelevel like something random and we need to have those conversations, becausewe're building trust with the person were building trust with the the groupor whoever it may be like. We need to answer those questions, and so thatfirst STHEP group that I keep talking about next week is a place where I hopeand pray and will fight hard wer. It will be a safe place for you to askthose types of questions, and so because we want to get to know you. Wewant to hear your story, but we also want to help answer your question, because where do you go to ask a questioninteractive time? Where do you go to...

...ask a question? Hey of somebody? That's a good answer.Come on Google yeah right! You got a question. You poulit your phone Yo, geton your computer and you google it and guess what Google has a lot of answers. They have a lot of really good answers, but do't care. How the answer affects you, the Care Care, and I hope that we can care. We can care. Thou Jesus had a great response to thiswoman. HEU had all these questions and Jesus gave such a progressive answer. He was way ahead of his time. He was talking about something completely newand something that just it didn't make sense. I mean God revealed himself inthe Hebrew, scriptures and, and God said, build a temple and build it hereand like that was where you worship, God, that's how you worship, God that'swhere the sacrifices happend, that's where God said his presence waschoosing to dwell and here's Jesus answering this woman's question aboutworse ipplocation and Jesus is like the location. Doesn't matter like that is asuper was a super new concept like having a worship service in a movie.Theater would never have crossed any of their people's mind and Jesus was like.I want that because we can worship God wherever we are, God ass spirit. We canworship him in spirit and in truth, so Jesus. I think he gave a greatanswer, but I think the woman at the well also thought he gave a greatanswer because she just completely disregarded it. Look what she said. Shesays this. She says I know the messiais coming the one hos called Christ andwhen he comes, he will explain everything to us. So Jesus great answer, but there's someone better who's coming and I'm just going NA. Listen to himwhen he comes that's basically what she said, and so Jesus said in as clearly as she as heknew how I am...

...the Messiah in the original language that Johnwrote this in and Greek just just said, you're looking for the Messiah, I am reference to the way that God revealedhimself to Moses in the Old Testament. When God said my name is I am I am thegreat. I am that's what Jesus was saying, I'm the Chosen One, theanointed one, the one that was prophesied all throughout the Hebrewscriptures Jesus was him so as much as we want you to feelneeded here and as much as we want you to feel known here and as much as wewant to answer your questions here and as much as we want to help connect youto guys next step for your life here. Mop In prayer and goal is that we wouldconnect you with Jesus here, because Jesus is going to be the one that doesall of those things perfectly every single time. Jesus is the one that's going to changeyour life. Jesus is the one. That's going to completely know you andcompletely love you. Jesus is the one that's going to guide you. Jesus is theone that's going to never leave you or forsake you. Jesus is always going tolove. You always going to forgive you always going to empower you to live thelife that he wants you to live. Jesus is the one that's going to make adifference, and we want to point you to him to this Messiah and is that Massiah in the next versus we read thosedisciples that went into the village. They came back, they were looking forfood and Jesus that I had something more important, something better thanthat on my mind when I had to go through Samaria...

...and woman after this conversation sheleft her water pot at the well and she left and went into the city and told everybody there of well Jesus, and this is what she said. She said he told me everything I ever did heknew me and when they came out to see him, theybegged him to stay in their village. So he stayed for how many days two days, Jews, would never go throughSamaria, let alone stay there for two days. Jesus did long enough for manymore to hear his message and believe then they said to the woman now webelieve now, just because of not just because of what you told us, butbecause we have heard him for ourselves, for we know that he is indeed thesaviour of the world. So Jesus had a personal next step for his disciples. He was working with them, trying to get them to figure out what he was doingtook a long time, but then eventually they figured it out. But Jesus also hada personal next step for the woman at the wealth as Ameritan woman, he wantedher to go out and bring back the town. I believe that God has an personal liesnext step for you today too, like now that you've encountered Jesus now thatyou've been here, God has something next for you and that's our mission isto connect you to God's next step for your life. So what could that be? Well, some of you. The first best step, is tofill ut that connection card, because that gives us a way to contact you. Wewould love to do that en invite you to that first step group next week, wherewe get to know you and hear your story and be able to have a conversationwhere there's not a guy on a microphone and on the stages right like you. Justcan't do that in this type of setting, but we want to do that, and so thatcould be the first best step, and so maybe you're new to the church is yourfirst time or first time ever being...

...here and that's a great first step, butmaybe you've been a part of the church. The planting process now for, as we'vebeen working on this for a year and a half now and here we are finally- andyou want to feel more connected with somebody- encourage you make time to go to thatfirst step group after the service next week and every time we have theseservices. I hope that once we start a weeklyservice, ince January thirty firnt that that group will happen every singleweek because we so deeply value that, but maybe for some of you this morningthat God's saying there's something more, that he wants you to do like yeah. You have questions and yeahyou're, trying to still figure all this stuff out, but like you've, you'veheard from God this morning, through his word and Youyou've sensed and you'veexperienced like I, God does need me Ko what God does know me. He knowseverything about me but I've. I am realizing and I'm feeling that you knowwhat he does. Love me fully and completely Ri have questions and stuff, but, likeI feel like I need to, I need to do something I need to make a decisionabout this Jesus guy like right here and right now, and so I want to giveyou the opportunity to do that and just encourage you to put your faith like trust in Vesus, because he does need you and he does know everything about you and he fullycompletely loves you. He died on the cross. He told the ultimate act of love foryou in your place, like we know we're, not perfect, you know you're notperfect, but Jesus was perfect for you, and so, when you put your faith intrust in him, he forgives you of your sin and he gives you eternal life, andso I just believe someone thisborn an wantto do that needs to do that, and so I'm...

...going no lead us in a prayer, and Ijust encourage you to just pray in the quietness of yourown heart or wherever you are and pray and just say Jesus. I want arelationship with you, however words or you can use the words that I'm using soJesus. I need a relationship with you that you want a relationship with me. Bull, not perfect, O that you are Jesus, but thank you for by place. USTING you, as my Lord and as my Savior Day, is the start, my relationship withyou, but this morning, if you prayed thatprayer, maybe for the first time or the first time in a long time like we'dlove to walk with you answer your questions. We love to hear about thatso just markit on the connection card or tell me after the service, becausewe really really believe that that decision changes. Everything like thatchanges, your entire life. God comes to live inside of you, and it is anincredible incredible thing for all of us. May We truly feel from God that we areneeded known and fully love and we live this way towards otherpeople, but take the time to know each other to be known by each other and fully love each other in the powerof the Holy Spirit. Men. So hey thanks so much for being heretoday. It is super exciting that you are hereand we're looking forward to what God is going to continue to do at Connectus, church and through us all so next week,...

I'll be preaching a message: I'm not okay and the value of acknowledging that youknow what things are crazy. This is a crazy time and you know what that's okay, because God he's got this, and sothat's next week- and I hope you come back next week same time same placewill be right back here and invite someone to come with you next week.
